We got an exciting call early this morning. We received word that “Thing 1″ won 3rd place in a coloring contest at Wal-Mart! She received a $5 gift card!

“The Pretty One” encouraged “Thing 1″ (our resident money saver) to consider using the money to help “Thing 2″ buy some Christmas presents.

Both of the girls handled it very well (since “Thing 2″ had also entered the contest).

A few minutes later, we received another call. “Thing 2″ took 1st place in her age group and had won a $15 gift card!

We are so proud of both of them. They really took this contest seriously. They spent more than an hour on each coloring sheet and made sure that I met the deadline in dropping them off (asking me every day until I completed the task). I am thrilled to see them rewarded for their hard work.

I am also thrilled that I won’t need to “spot them” a few bucks for Christmas presents!
