That Hot Dust Smell

Temps in our area nearly hit 90 on Saturday. I spent the day taking the big tree out of my yard.

Yesterday topped out at 55, but that was at 1am. Things just dropped from there with the evening in the crisp 40s.

We had the furnace kick in yesterday. I love that smell you get around the house when the furnace kicks in early in the season. All the dust that has settled in the system during the summer heats up. I can’t call it a “good” smell, but it is certainly a “cozy” smell.

Of course when the weather gets cold, the comfort food warms up.

Meatloaf + Potatoes + Steamed Veggies + Apple Crisp + a couple logs in the fireplace=a nice night!

I have really gotten into the new Ken Burns documentary “The War”. I have heard one line between episodes that always seems to get my funnybone…

The Week In Preview

I met the guys at our favorite “Monday Night Football Viewing” establishment last night. It was refreshing to have the place “Smoke Free!”

I ordered a Lemonade to go with the many piles of wings we had procured (ahhh…$0.25 wings during happy hour!).

The waitress brought me a great big mug of Pink lemonade!

You know? It’s really hard to feel like one of “the guys” when you are watching the game while sipping on a pink lemonade.

Looking ahead to the week, The “pretty one” leaves town for a conference tomorrow, and I get to play lumberjack in my yard on Friday while taking down my favorite tree.

I will post some tree pictures later this week (of either the cutting process, or my hospital visit…)
