Hooping it Up

I returned to the gym tonight for some hoops. It has been about 3 months since I showed my face there, and my lungs sure felt it tonight.

I had no outside shot during the warm up. It was a little embarassing. On a beautiful night, as tonight is, it was hard to get guys inside to play. We had 4 of us for the first hour, then 3 more showed up and we had a grand old time. I felt like I was finally coming into my own under the basket. Being the resident “big-man” I feel that is where I am “called” to be. I could pretty much just set up a tent and start camping there.

On they way home I had a great idea for a radio imaging bit. Actually, it wasn’t a new idea, but I finally had the wording I was looking for come to me. I should have called into my voice mail right away and recorded it, because now, for the life of me, I can’t remember what it was…

It made me think of the AFA’s top movie quotes list, and I wonder how many, of what would have been the greatest, lost movie quotes were thought of in the car, then totally lost in a fit of forgetfullness.

Since my copy is gone, probably not to be retrieved, I can say, with a certain degree of confidence, that it was TOTALLY Pulitzer material

(There is a Pulitzer Prize for Station Imaging… right???)

I had a moment like that, too. Only it was for a purpose statement for the top of my teaching resume. I was so sure it was briliant, and so sure I was going to forget it, that I used my cell phone to call myself to record it onto my voicemail.

I got home, pulled up my resume, was just about to start typing the new and brilliant purpose statement when I realized…
It was one preposition away from being EXACTLY THE SAME as the purpose statement I’d written two months earlier.

So, big-bro, all I can say is, maybe your brilliant thought has already been written down. If you’re certain that’s not the case, you can rest easy knowing that MAYBE, just MAYBE, it’ll come to you again.
