My PhD student brother-in-law figured that Cousin does not fit with the set in Riddle 2, because it does not denote gender.

Todays (more trivia than a riddle)

Before Mount Everest was discovered, what was the highest mountain on earth?

I’m guessing that whether people knew it existed or not, Mt. Everest was still the highest mountain on earth and that people’s discovery of it simply confirmed that fact! :)

If Mt. Everest had not been discovered yet, can we be sure that it existed?
